Captain: Gameweek 10

What a week it has been leading up to GW10! Injuries to players, league cup performances and mind-games over returning players were to be analysed before I sat down to pen this article. There are few straight forward contenders for the captain armband, our top preference being given to Diego Costa (10.9). Yes, the Spaniard was plagued by fitness issues, coupled with the uncertainty over his availability for this game week. After all this hue and cry, Costa remains the top contender for the captains armband due to his fantastic stats:

Goal ATTEMPTS: 3.1

Shots on TARGET: 2.3

Shots from INSIDE the BOX: 2.7

POINTS per game: 7.7

Costa has always been the top contender for captain before his short break from action, and retains that place on his return too. Watch out for him.

Coming a close second is a new face. Alexis Sanchez (10.5) seems to have latched upon his new found form and will exploit it against newcomers Burnley. The Burnley defense has looked very vulnerable in the last few games, and it presents a good opportunity for Sanchez and his team to up their morale before starting their list of difficult fixtures. Very close second in our opinions.

Second alternative for captain will be Kun Aguero (12.6). This player has made the most of all the chances that have come his way and very rarely lets up on opportunities. However, City face United this GW, and given the Reds improved defensive show there may be very few opportunities coming Aguero’s way in the first place.

BONUS ALTERNATIVE: This is out of the blue, but for those who have an immense risk appetite: Mario Ballotelli (9.5). Very risky proposition with low probability of returns, but we suggest him as he has registered the second highest number of Shots on Target and Goal attempts (right behind Aguero.) Imagine your peers reaction if you captain Super Mario and he ends up getting a hat-trick 🙂
